We are looking for a Principal Physicist to join our Simulation team at Epic Games. As a Principal Physicist, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining new physics systems in Unreal Engine, with a focus on fundamental physics systems and associated tools, considering performance and scalability requirements.
What you'll do
- Participate in the implementation and maintenance of new physics systems in Unreal Engine, with a focus on fundamental physics systems and associated tools, considering performance and scalability requirements.
- Define and drive the vision for the future evolution of physics simulation, physics features, and physics engine Chaos interfaces, as well as related systems.
- Ensure the maintenance of the existing physics engine and its integration within Unreal Engine.
- Adopt a proactive approach, staying up-to-date with current and emerging techniques, research, hardware, and technological advancements.
- Collaborate with project teams to resolve complex and novel physics problems, enabling the creation of new and engaging mechanics for players.
What you need
- Experience in implementing solvers or physics engines for real-time applications delivered in commercial products.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science or Physics, with courses completed in game physics considered an asset.
- Solid C++ skills and excellent mathematical abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of rigid body dynamics, collision detection, and resolution, as well as low-level optimization techniques.
- Experience with other game physics engines such as Havok, PhysX, Bullet, or equivalents.
- A marked passion for physics and its practical application in game universes.
