We are seeking a seasoned Art Director to join our growing team on Fortnite. As an Art Director, you will lead and collaborate with artists, programmers, and multidisciplinary designers to help realize the future vision of Fortnite. You will possess experience in defining a high-level vision and be able to balance creative thinking with the ability to collaborate with teams and lead them in the development of content for our various projects.

You will work closely with the Creative Director to define and communicate a high-quality visual style. You will also develop a seasonal vision, execute it with a team of artists, and guide them to do the same.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with multiple teams, including design, programming, and production, to develop world-class gaming experiences
• Show great creativity; imagine and communicate the vision to the team to develop new content that players will love
• Lead and manage a global team of artists
• Interpret the needs of all development disciplines, such as design and programming, to translate them into final artistic elements
• Provide effective feedback in all artistic disciplines (concept, modeling, environment, technical art, lighting, VFX, etc.)
• Collaborate with teams to identify the best ideas, guide them through the pipeline, and work towards the style of our projects while aiming to advance the Fortnite brand
• Synthesize multiple sources of analysis and feedback into a visual direction for the creation of new artistic elements, and think strategically about art and how it influences the player experience

Requirements:

• Experience in defining and delivering a global vision for a product
• Strong desire to collaborate with experts from other fields than art to create a unified vision
• Clear understanding of the importance of the artistic team roles in the player experience
• Experience as an Art Director or Creative Director for a full title in a game development studio
• Solid understanding of the fundamental principles of art, multiple artistic styles, anatomy, aesthetics, and narrative
• Experience in supporting and directing artists from various fields of expertise
• Ability to adapt to new styles and techniques and innovate, with a deep understanding of the art disciplines and their workflows
• Collaborative nature to work in partnership with Art Directors, other team leaders, and production
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide large teams towards a common vision
• Experience in formulating constructive feedback to subcontractors and contract personnel
