F1 23 Wheel Settings: Fanatec, Moza, Logitech, Simagic

F1 23 runs the same EGO Engine FFB as F1 22, F1 24 and F1 25, so the per-brand wheel settings transfer cleanly. The downforce-heavy physics still want the wheelbase software at 100% torque with the in-game Vibration & FFB Strength dialled back to 60-80% on direct drive bases – else you’ll clip on Suzuka and Spa. Understeer Enhance stays off. Centre Spring stays off on DD and on for the older Logitech and Thrustmaster belt wheels. This is the per-brand baseline for every major wheelbase.

Why F1 23 is fussy about FFB

The EGO Engine that runs F1 23 (and the entire F1 22-25 generation) is downforce-heavy. Suzuka Esses, Pouhon at Spa, Copse at Silverstone – the lateral G builds quickly and the FFB output clips just as quickly if you’ve left the in-game Strength at 100%. The classic fix is the same as F1 25: run your wheelbase software at full torque, then drop the in-game Vibration & FFB Strength to 60-80% depending on your base’s headroom. A 25Nm Podium DD2 needs more reduction than a 5Nm CSL DD.

Three F1-game traps to know. Understeer Enhance is a gamepad aid that fakes an FFB drop on understeer – leave it OFF on any wheel. Centre Spring should be OFF for any direct drive base (DDs have no centre slack to bridge), but turned ON to about 20-30% for the older Logitech G29/G920/G923 and the Thrustmaster T300 belt wheel, which need help rotating back to centre on corner exit. Steering Linearity stays at 0 universally.

For the wider FFB picture see the direct drive wheel settings hub. The newer F1 25 companion to this page is F1 25 wheel settings – if you’ve moved to the current title, the same per-brand values apply.

Fanatec settings for F1 23

Fanatec on F1 23 follows the Fanatec official recommended-settings thread. FFS on Peak gives the dynamic range the EGO engine wants. NDP at 25 on the CSL DD tames straight-line oscillation; on the ClubSport DD upwards, drop to 15.

Moza settings for F1 23

Moza on F1 23 wants Natural Inertia high (150) to add a sense of weight to the open-wheel front end, plus a moderate Damper to stop the R12-R21 oscillating on straights. Road Sensitivity at 9 keeps the kerb detail clean without amplifying small bumps into noise.

Simagic settings for F1 23

Simagic on F1 23 needs Wheel Return Speed dropped to a low value (10-15) to stop the wheel snapping unrealistically on quick direction changes through the chicanes. Otherwise the SimPro Manager defaults plus mild Friction and Damper work.

Simucube settings for F1 23

Simucube users on F1 23 sit at the FFB-purist end: Strength 100% in TrueDrive, very low Reconstruction Filter (1 or off), in-game Strength dropped aggressively (50-55% on the Ultimate). The SC2 Ultimate at 32Nm clips immediately at higher in-game values.

Logitech settings for F1 23

Logitech splits two ways for F1 23. The gear-driven G29, G920 and belt-driven G923 need Centre Spring ON at 20-30% in-game (the gear/belt mechanics are too slow to centre by themselves through F1 chicanes). The newer DD G PRO (11Nm) and RS50 (8Nm) follow direct drive rules: Centre Spring OFF, in-game Strength scaled down to 60-75%.

On Track Effects 20-30, Rumble Strip Effects 35-40, Off Track Effects 20, Wheel Damper 0 for DD, 10 for belt/gear, Understeer Enhance OFF, Centre Spring ON 20-30% for G29/G920/G923, OFF for RS50/G PRO, Steering Linearity 0.

Thrustmaster settings for F1 23

T300 in F1 23 has the same thermal-fade trap as in iRacing and ACC. Cap Overall Strength at 75% in the TM Control Panel, force the internal fan to stay on. T818 is direct drive – all sliders at 100, Mode Sport or Extreme.

Common mistakes in F1 23 wheel settings

  • In-game Vibration & FFB Strength at 100% on a high-torque DD. You’ll clip on Suzuka and Pouhon and feel a wall of force instead of the car. Drop to 60-70% on 15Nm+ bases.
  • Understeer Enhance ticked. It’s a gamepad assist that fakes an FFB drop. On any wheel it just buries the real signal. Turn it off.
  • Centre Spring on a direct drive base. Causes robotic centre vibration. OFF for all DDs. ON at 20-30% only for G29/G920/G923 and T300.
  • T300 running 100% Overall Strength. Half-hour stints in F1 23 cook the motor and the FFB fades by half. Cap at 75% and force the fan on with Mode + Start.
  • Steering Linearity above 0. Introduces a non-linear response that ruins your inputs through tight chicanes. Keep at 0.
  • Fixed in-game Steering Angle below 360°. F1 cars use 360-540° in real life; your wheelbase needs to match. Set base to 360° or use 900° with soft-lock if the game supports it.

F1 23 sits in the middle of the EGO engine generation. If you’re on F1 22, F1 24 or F1 25 the same values transfer – the FFB engine’s nearly identical across the lot. The big calls don’t change: Understeer Enhance off, Centre Spring off for DD, Steering Linearity at zero. The DD wheel settings hub is the parent, and the same-engine companion is F1 25 wheel settings.
